Volunteer for CEF

CEF program implementation and success relies heavily on the time and effort of volunteers across the country. CEF's volunteers include chemical industry members, middle-school educators, college professors and students, chemists, parents, and community leaders. These individuals come from various fields and have a range of experience and expertise; however each are connected by a passion for advancing the CEF mission of enhancing science education and fostering a greater understanding of the science of chemistry, benefits of chemicals, and the importance of chemical safety awareness.

Volunteer activities include:
  • Participating on CEF's Board of Trustees
  • Participating on a CEF committee, such as the Program Committee to develop CEF's programs
  • Becoming an industry-educator liaison
  • Introducing CEF's You Be The Chemist (YBTC) programs to local schools
  • Providing educator or industry liaison training to facilitate the use of CEF programs
  • Becoming a YBTC Challenge Organizer or Educator Coordinator
  • Participating on the YBTC Challenge Content Development Team
  • Organizing CEF events, including YBTC Challenge competitions, YBTC teacher workshops, and other events
  • Distributing CEF bulletins to relevant consumer groups
  • Participating on judges panels for CEF competitions and awards
  • Assisting with the development and review of CEF outreach materials, such as Public Service Announcements (PSAs) and brochures
