SOCMA Educational Outreach Award

2011 SOCMA Educational Outreach Award Winner

CEF and SOCMA are pleased to announce that Strem Chemicals, Inc. of Newburyport, MA, has been selected as the 2011 Educational Outreach Award recipient!

CEF and SOCMA partnered to create the Educational Outreach Award portion of SOCMA’s ChemStewards® Performance Improvement Awards program to honor a SOCMA member company that is working to enhance science education opportunities in their community. To further develop the industry-education relationship, CEF also awards $2,500 to the school or educational charity of the award recipient's choice. These funds are donated in the award recipient's honor and are designated for the enhancement of science education.

"CEF and SOCMA created the Educational Outreach Award as a means to recognize the community outreach efforts of chemical industry companies as they volunteer their time, effort, and financial resources to programs and schools in their area. Many companies are making a positive impact on their communities daily. SOCMA is proud to join CEF in acknowledging the accomplishments of such companies through our ChemStewards program and the celebratory setting of our Annual Dinner."

- Lawrence Sloan, President & CEO of SOCMA

SOCMA Educational Outreach Award 2010

Strem Chemicals, Inc. strongly encourages company employees to get involved in community outreach efforts in Newburyport. This includes engaging its educational community through school visits where employees have performed hands-on experiments, conducted lecture demonstrations and provided monetary contributions to the expanding and updating of laboratory space.

"Strem Chemicals, Inc. is a company which takes great pride in the work it has done to enhance science education within our community. Watching young students grow in their understanding and enjoyment of the sciences, specifically chemistry is enough reward in itself but we are truly privileged to have been selected as the 2011 Educational Outreach Award recipient by CEF and SOCMA. We have designated Nock Middle School of Newburyport, MA to receive the $2,500 donation in our name. We are extremely confident that Nock's science department will significantly benefit from this charitable contribution."
