CEF CELEBRATES NEW YEAR WITH A FIRST

ARLINGTON, VA - January 13, 2012 –Americhem Sales Corporation (ASC) of Mason, Michigan, has long been an active supporter of the Chemical Educational Foundation® (CEF) and the You Be The Chemist educational series. To show their support going into 2012, the entire ASC family joined their President & CEO Bruce Whetter in making individual donations to CEF in support of the organization’s science education activities. This marks the first time in CEF’s history that 100% of a company’s workforce has donated individual contributions to the Foundation.

CEF is a nationally recognized, award winning non-profit organization committed to enhancing science education among every generation. CEF works closely with members of the chemical industry to inspire our future leaders in pursuing science-related careers and to improve the overall understanding of, participation in, and appreciation of chemistry. Chemical industry support is vital to the outreach efforts of the Foundation.

“ASC has seen firsthand the positive impact of CEF’s You Be The Chemist programs here in Michigan. As a company, and as individuals, we appreciate the opportunities that these programs offer students and educators. For me, that also includes my wife, Susan, who has used CEF’s materials in her fifth grade classroom for years. The student’s love them!” stated Whetter. “Since 1998, I have made contributions to CEF, but in 2011 ASC employees decided together that it was important for each of us to celebrate science education through direct support of CEF. It’s rewarding for us as a company to show a united front in giving back to our community,” he added.

ASC is a Midwest chemical distributor and the company’s commitment to excellence extends into their business practices as well. The corporation received the National Association of Chemical Distributors’ (NACD) first annual Responsible Distribution Excellence Award in 2006.
