What Does It Take to Be a Local Challenge Organizer?

The Challenge is made possible by the time and effort  given by volunteers throughout the country. These volunteers include Local Challenge Organizers and their involvement is vital to the success of the competition. While being a Local Challenge Organizer is an investment of time, that investment comes with numerous rewards, most notably, connecting members of your community through the common goal of enhancing science education!

Each registered Local Challenge site must designate an individual to serve as the site’s primary Local Challenge Organizer (Organizer), as well as a secondary Organizer. The Organizers will utilize CEF’s materials to coordinate all aspects of their site’s Local Challenge. The primary Organizer's responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the site’s main point of contact for all participating parties - educators, industry sponsors, CEF, etc.
  • Encouraging and confirming student/school and industry participation.
  • Registering the Local Challenge site with CEF.
  • Disseminating the appropriate information to participating schools/students.
  • Establishing the site's competition format and rules.
  • Planning the competitive event.
  • Operating the Local Challenge site in accordance with the 2011-2012 Challenge Guidelines.

The secondary Local Challenge Organizer is the primary Organizer’s “right hand” and will assist in coordinating the Local Challenge site.

In addition, the CEF staff will help you get started and provide support along the way. Just contact us!
