The You Be The Chemist Essential Elements professional development workshops build educator confidence to teach hands-on science to students in grades K through 8. Furthermore, the workshops build connections among educators and chemistry professionals in communities to enhance instruction and elevate students’ career interests. To learn more, click here.

All workshop participants receive a customized CEF Periodic Table poster, and access to the You Be The Chemist Activity Guides – plus other giveaways!


Workshop Information:

The University of Notre Dame Graduate Student Organization, the Chemical Educational Foundation and the Dow Chemical Company are offering a Essential Elements Professional Development Workshop for K-8 educators in and around South Bend Indiana on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 9 AM to Noon. The workshop will be in room 302 of Jordan Hall on the University of Notre Dame campus.

The Essential Elements workshop is based on the 5E learning model and makes use of hands on You Be The Chemist activities developed by the Chemical Educational Foundation. The workshop is free and educators who complete the workshop will receive a certificate for 3 hours of Continuing Education Credit along with a flash drive containing over 50 You Be The Chemist activities. Space is limited to 30 educators so sign up early.
