About Essential Elements

The You Be The Chemist Essential Elements professional development workshops build educator confidence to teach hands-on science to students in grades K through 8. Furthermore, the workshops build connections among educators and chemistry professionals in communities to enhance instruction and elevate students’ career interests. To learn more, click here.

All workshop participants receive a customized CEF Periodic Table poster, and access to the You Be The Chemist Activity Guides – plus other giveaways!


Workshop Information:

Thank you for being an outstanding Middle School science educator!

Dow AgroSciences knows that you work hard to bring hands-on learning into your classroom, and our volunteers want to support your efforts. Sign up here for a free educator workshop on Saturday, July 15 from 8 AM to 12:00 Noon CDT that will provide you with an array of new hands-on activities including several You Be The Chemist Activities and the materials to do them in your classroom. You will also receive instruction on the 5E Instructional/Learning model which you can utilize when you are doing these activities. There is also an optional R&D tour from 12:00 to 12:30 PM CDT.

When you arrive at Dow AgroSciences' Global Headquarters on the day of the workshop, we will ask you to check in and sign a photo consent form. If you are a non-US citizen, we will have a second form to fill out upon arrival, but this form does not limit your participation in any way.
