What if we obsessed about teachers like pro athletes?
Imagine a universe in which we gave breathless play-by-play descriptions of great classroom management, or tuned in every year to a high-stakes draft for new teachers. Comedy duo Key & Peele have done exactly that in their video “TeachingCenter,” a parody sports show all about – you guessed it – educators!
The clip is laugh-out-loud funny, but also a pointed critique of how our culture privileges athletics over education. Even the segment’s advertising drives the point home – in a luxury car ad, a teacher bites into an apple and declares “I am the future.” Here at CEF, we wouldn’t mind seeing more of that on TV – how about you?
