Teams advancing to the national level of the You Be The Chemist Challenge® will create a video investigating the concept of solubility and its role in their community. Videos will explain the concept, highlight examples of solubility found in everyday life, and explore how understanding of the concept can help solve a problem people face in their community. Before filming the video, teams will complete a storyboard that outlines all video components. Evaluation is based on explanation of the content, video organization, the storyboard, and team collaboration. All video submissions will be evaluated by multiple Judges. Evaluation is focused on the content of the video, not the participants’ technical abilities or sophistication of recording equipment used.

One video from each state will be recognized as the state winner and will be featured on the CEF website and social media channels. The top 10 teams, selected from the videos recognized as the state winners, will participate in an on-site competition, the National You Be The Chemist Challenge, at the CEF STEM Summit in Houston, TX on June 15-16, 2020.
